Newcastle Family History Society with Maitland & Beyond Family History are hosting the 37th Annual Conference of the NSW & ACT Association of Family History Societies 16-18 September 2022

Friday 5 August will see us meeting at 10.00am to visit Maitland Gaol.
You will need to book your ticket online.
It is a self-guided tour.
If we escape the Gaol, we will have lunch at the Hunter River Hotel.

August 14 – FREE tour of our local Commonwealth War Cemetery at Maitland Road, Sandgate. Renowned local historian Ed Tonks, OAM has volunteered to lead the tour. You’ll hear stories of Army, Navy, Marine and Royal Marine servicemen who are buried in the cemetery.

Do you have a serviceman or woman in your family whose story deserves to be shared with others? We are looking for stories of service either on the home front or in any theatre of war.

Tuesday 7th June – Monthly Meeting Day.
Sale will start at 1.00 pm and resume after the meeting ends. Come early to grab your choice of bargains and support the Society. All income goes back into resources.
Guest speaker and member Julie Keating will be talking about Novocastrians’ lives in the 1800s so it will make for a very interesting afternoon.

Friday, 3 June, we will meet at the Dungog Museum, at 105 Dowling Street, at 10am. After viewing the Museum we will walk down the street and a guide will come with us to give the history of the buildings.

On Thursday, 26 May we will hold a fundraising morning tea for the Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day.

A lot of the courses that were planned for 2021 were unable to be held due to the lockdowns. So these are now planned to be run in 2022.
